Simply putting it, Ryan Fitzpatrick is the greatest and most successful football player to ever attend Highland High School. The Class of 2001 graduate has gone on to bigger and better things since leaving the Hawk’s nest, attending Harvard from 2001 to 2005.

Initially not starting his first two seasons, Fitzpatrick burst on to the scene in the 2003 season. During this season he amassed 1,770 passing yards, 16 passing TDs, 430 rushing yards, and 6 rushing TDs. This performance left his team with a 7-3 record.

His next season was just as good, if not better, as he earned Ivy League MVP honors with 1,986 passing yards, 13 passing TDs, 448 rushing yards, and 5 rushing TDs. Not to mention Harvard’s perfect 10-0 record, winning them the Ivy League Championship. But his football career had only just begun.

Fitzpatrick was the 250th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the (then) St. Louis Rams. But he would have to wait until the eleventh game of the season against the Houston Texans after starting quarterback Jamie Martin went down with an injury in the second quarter. After a 24-3 halftime deficit, Ryan Fitzpatrick led a miraculous comeback win, eventually besting the Texans 33-27 in an overtime thriller.

Since this memorable debut, Fitzpatrick has played for the Cincinnati Bengals (starter, 2007-09), Buffalo Bills (starter, 2009-13), Tennessee Titans (partial starter, 2013-14), Houston Texans (starter, 2014-15), New York Jets (starter, 2015-17), and is currently starting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in relief of the injured Jameis Winston.

His career speaks for itself, and we are sure proud to be able to call him a Highland Hawk.
