Don’t Be Filloon’in Around

Highland appreciates its teachers.

Let’s be honest, not many students enjoy waking up five times a week to come to school. It’s tedious work, to stay motivated and wanting to go to school, especially when there are so many reasons not to. But, once in a while, there’s those couple of teachers that make it worthwhile. To a couple of current students at Highland, Mr. Filloon is that teacher.

“I probably wouldn’t have gotten through mornings without him,” says Sarah Jaramillo, a junior here at Highland. “He keeps in the teenager loop and he’s understanding.” The chemistry teacher makes sure his students know they’re in a comfortable place, and he does this by playing music, greeting them, and making jokes with the class. He forms connections with students and puts his best foot forward here at Highland.
