Highland high school was built 30 years ago in 1992. Life back then was way different than our lives now. Without most modern technology, How did they style their outfits each day, and what is considered “good style”? Although the curling iron was invented in 1866, how did they use it and how is it similar to today’s curls? What shoes were popular back then? These are many questions that will be answered in the following.

 

Hair

 Girls today, braid, straighten, curl, wave, twist, and slick their hair in many ways to fit the modern-day styles. But what was the best way to style it back in the 90s? According to zenoti.com “Chunky highlights, mohawks, high and severe ponytails, straight hair with bangs, and razor-sharp cuts are just a few of the most unforgettable 90s hairstyles.” Believe it or not, some older styles are starting to come back. “Some of these trends (thankfully) remain a distant memory, but a number of 90s hairstyles are taking the fashion and beauty industry by storm this year,” (zenoti.com). 

 

Clothes

According to HobbyLark.com, “Fashion trends in 1992 were crop tops, platform shoes, animal prints, faux fur, velvet, windbreakers, and denim.” LiveTheOliver.com adds that “Matching your top to your bottom was very important. Monochromatic and dichromatic looks were the way to go.” Today’s trends are similar with crop tops, denim, platform shoes, and windbreakers still in style. 2023 has added baggy clothes such as cargos, t-shirts, longer and broader shorts, wide pants, and big oversized sweatshirts. Although some styles have changed, many have made a comeback.

 

In the end, these styles have evolved over time in so many ways. Our world is changing but let’s not forget the past. These styles represent years of memories and happy days. Although some styles are more popular than others, you get to choose what you want to wear, and who you want to be. What’s your style?
