30 Years 30 Championships

Since Highland opened 30 years ago they have won 30 state championships. Just this year alone they have won nine state championships. 

 

The first-ever state championship was won in 1994 by girls’ basketball. This was the first of six state championships that they won. In 1995 they won the state championship. Between the years of 2003 and 2009, they won four other state championships. Girls basketball has the most state championships out of any sport at Highland. 

 

Cross country has the second most state championships at Highland with five. Boys cross country has three while girls cross country has two. In 2022, both boys and girls teams won the state titles. Before that, the girls cross country won their first state championship in 2021 and the boys won in both 2019 and 2012.

 

Pom has also won several championships. They have won four state championships since Highland has opened. All girls poms won the first one in 2017. In 2021, Pom Medium Jazz won the state title as well. The other two state championships came in 2021 and 2022 where Pom gameday and Pom Large all girls won the title. 

 

Wrestling has won three state championships. They won them in 1995, 2001, and in 2005. 

 

Boys Volleyball has also taken home four state championships. In 2004 and 2005 they won back-to-back state titles. In 2013 they won another championship. Their fourth state championship came this year. 

 

Both boys and girls soccer have won two championships as well. All four of those came between the years 2007 and 2015. 

 

Varsity Football has won back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, they beat Pinnacle by a score of 37-26 in the 6A state championship. In 2021, Highland beat Chaparral 31-10. 

 

This year, Cheer, Boys Basketball, and Girls Track & Field all won their first state championship since the school opened.
