On October 17th, opening night of the 2017-18 NBA season, Gordon Hayward suffered a very serious injury. With a dislocated ankle and a fractured tibia that left viewing audiences shocked, Hayward was forced to leave the court. According to some reports, Hayward’s ankle was put in place right there on the court. This injury could prove disastrous to a Boston Celtics team that got edged out 99-102 against the Eastern Conference powerhouse Cleveland Cavaliers, and could prove to be even more disastrous to Gordon Hayward’s career. Injuries like this can really affect a talented player. Just look at Derrick Rose, the 2010-11 MVP, who has since been plagued by injuries and has never seemed the same. This could very well be the same fate for Gordon Hayward, but only time will tell. As of November 12th, Gordon Hayward is slowly but surely recovering.
